Lincoln Hall - Friday, March 26th - New Venue, New Lineup, New Tunes!!

Hello, all. Holding Mercury is emerging after a long winter's hiatus that has fortunately or unfortunately required a bit of a reorganization with the band.

We would like to first thank Andrew Titchenal and Jason Batchko for their years of friendship and blood, sweat and tears shed for the band. We had some unbelievable moments on stage, not to mention countless inside jokes and interesting experiences off the stage as well. We have decided to part ways, and we wish them luck in their new endeavors. As a result, we have a new rhythm section to introduce to you.

Michael Durband will now be holding down the low end for Holding Mercury. Mike has been in the Chicago scene for a while, playing in bands with Ashok in the past, and we have gotten to know him for the past couple years at HM shows. He's learned all of Andy's parts quickly, and has jumped right in and done a great job on some of the new material we are recording as well. Also, he's quite skilled with the video filming and editing...check out what he did during our stint at Electrical Audio earlier this month:

Garret Hammond, the producer and drummer for "Downfall of an Empire" will once again be behind the kit for us, as well as producing another EP/LP to be released later this year. Garret is an absolutely amazing drummer, and regularly does sessions for Johnny K (producer of Disturbed, Plain White T's) and Hollywood records. We're thrilled to have Garret and Mike with us, and look forward to starting a new chapter of HM with them.

So, to celebrate spring and our reemergence, we are playing at a new venue, Lincoln Hall, two weeks from today. This venue has been getting rave reviews by concert goers...supposedly the sound is amazing and it's a great place to hang and check out new bands. The Assembly (w/ ex members of Caviar) and The Victory (w/ ex members of Matthew) will be on the bill as well.

As we mentioned we are excited to get out and start playing again, and this next record is shaping up to have some very, very strong material on it. We're hoping to preview a couple tunes you've never heard before on the 26th.

Hope to see everyone there! As always, we greatly appreciate your support!

Other news:

HM will be named one of "The Top 100 Unsigned Artists" by "Music Connection Magazine" for the second year in a row. The year-end issue should be out next week sometime, otherwise, you can click on this link - http://musicconnection.com/digital/ - to see the digital version. This is a major trade publication for the music industry, so hopefully it leads to more label interest.

HM will be holing up for a few months thereafter to write new material, work on a new EP/LP and we'll be trying to make some new connections behind the scenes in the industry.

Hope to see you at least one more time before the end of the year. Thanks, as always, for your support.

Label Showcase at Bottom Lounge Friday, July 31st!!

HM may be graduating to the "next level" after July 31st. We've had some promising conversations/offers from a label and a couple other folks behind the scenes, and they will be in attendance on July 31st at Bottom Lounge.

As a result, we need to show them the enthusiastic following we have here in Chicago. For those of you who don't have the record yet, visit our myspace, learn the words, get really drunk and sing along! We want to have a rowdy, packed house for the event.

Our friend, Dan McPherrin, has reserved the rooftop deck from 9:30PM-11:00PM so you can get loaded outside and enjoy the good Chicago summer night weather (hopefully) before we go on.

We'll be debuting some brand new tunes, and some of us may be trying some new instruments out.....hopefully, afterwards, you can say you were at the show where HM was signed.

Here are the details:
